Drummond's Bio

Jason’s story starts a long time ago. His grandparents Robert and Marie Ziemer served with the C&MA in Vietnam until Robert was martyred during the Tet offensive. His parents Rick and Beth (Ziemer) Drummond also served in Vietnam where they remained until they evacuated in 1975. With three young children, Rob, Kim, and Christy, the family moved to Indonesia where Jason was born and came to know the Lord. In 1993, after losing their Indonesian visas, his family moved to Cambodia where they began serving impoverished Vietnamese immigrants. In junior high and high school, Jason attended Dalat School in Penang, Malaysia.

Jason graduated from Wheaton College in 2000 with a BA in Bible Theology and a Human Needs and Global Resources (HNGR) Certificate. In 2001 Jason deployed to Mongolia for his home service where he served as the CAMA Services (relief and development arm of the C&MA) projects coordinator.

Elissa grew up as a PK of John and Marti Janney. She has an older brother, Michael and younger sister, Crissy. Her sister Crissy is currently working with IFAP (Int’l Fellowship of Alliance Professionals) teaching English at a university in Indonesia. Elissa’s parents have most recently served with Alliance Bible Church in Culpeper, VA. Her father led Elissa to Christ at age 6. Her first recollections of God’s call into overseas ministry came at her first missions conference at about age 8. Through discipleship and evangelism training in Campus Crusade at Miami University of Ohio, God continued to reveal Himself to her in amazing ways. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a BS in Health Education.

Nine months after Jason’s arrival in Mongolia, the C&MA sent Elissa to setup a one-room schoolhouse for the MKs. After a year of hikes in the Mongolian countryside and a six-month courtship across the ocean, they were married on the sands of Sandbridge Beach, VA on August 15, 2003.

After their wedding, they moved to Dayton, OH to serve Fairhaven Church for a year (2003-2004) as Missionaries in Residence (MIR). Jason worked full-time and Elissa took prerequisite classes for Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS). The following year they moved to Nyack, NY where Elissa finished her masters in Intercultural Studies at ATS and Jason served as MIR (2004-2005).

The summer of 2005, they served with CAMA Services in Aceh, Indonesia assisting with the tsunami recovery efforts. At that point, they felt God’s call on their life to return to Aceh for long-term service after finishing graduate studies. Jason completed an MBA in International Economic Development at Eastern University in 2005-2006 while Elissa taught 5th/6th graders at a Messianic Jewish school. They redeployed back to Indonesia with CAMA in October 2006.

Upon moving back to Indonesia, they spent their first year in Bandung studying the Indonesian language and culture. For the first four months, they lived with a Indonesian family that are now close friends. In January 2008, they moved to Aceh where they are starting a new work in the province of Aceh Jaya. They are expecting their first Drummond baby in September 2008. ☺

Their calling to wholistic ministry with CAMA Services is best summed up in Luke 4:18 where Christ proclaims, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed.”
